Updated Satellite Images Show Significant Solar Field Progress
In June, we shared satellite images of Ivanpah that showed a new, unique view of the project. Just two months later, our new satellite images show measurable progress in the solar fields. The Bechtel construction team recently achieved a major milestone – the installation of the 100,000th steel pylons and the 50,000 th heliostat. The heliostat assembly team continues to produce fully assembled heliostats at a rate of over 500 each day for the solar field team to install.
The first image below shows the Ivanpah site in its entirety.
The second image shows the Unit 1 Solar Field, shining at more than 90% complete. More than 49,000 pylons and 48,000 heliostats have been installed.

The third image shows the Unit 2 Solar Field, with more than 50,000 pylons and 6,000 heliostats installed.
Work on the Unit 3 Solar Field is just beginning with pylon installations now underway. Check back soon for new satellite images!
