Ivanpah Featured in NY Times Magazine
On Wednesday, June 13, the Ivanpah project was featured in a photo essay in the New York Times Magazine. Twelve incredible black and white images by photographer Jamey Stillings show the project’s construction progress.
The images do an excellent job of visually depicting the low-impact design approach we’ve taken. Our unique pylon and heliostat based solar field does not require that we completely grade the land – only the power block area and ring roads – as seen in the image of the power block and the surrounding ring roads (#5). The individual pylon approach also allows us to be flexible and avoid areas as needed, as seen in the image of the heliostats wrapping around a small hill (#4).
